One-on-one Career & Leadership Coaching

Build your next chapter on your gifts, not just your résumé.

Coaching for accomplished professionals who are successful, respected, and quietly restless. Together we name the gifts you're actually built for, and put them to work on the goals and challenges in front of you.

"Start a conversation" opens an email to Joe, a real person reads every one.

It's not you. It's the blueprint.

You were taught to climb: earn the next title, shore up your weaknesses, keep achieving. That blueprint builds impressive careers, and quietly empty ones. Because it's built on your developed skills, not your innate gifts: the things that come easily, that have always been yours, that you may have stopped noticing precisely because they are easy.

The reason the summit feels flat is that you climbed a mountain that was never really yours. The way forward isn't more effort or a cleverer five-year plan. It's finally naming your gifts, and building your next chapter on them.

Your next level isn't a better title or fewer weaknesses. It's the gifts you already have, finally understood, and put to work.

Your guide

I've stood at that threshold, and helped others cross it.

I'm Joe Miller, and one-on-one coaching is the most personal work I do. I spent 35+ years leading technology as a CIO, so I've sat in the chair you're in now. Today I help accomplished professionals name the two or three gifts they're genuinely built on, and put them to work on what's next, whether that's the promotion, a pivot, or the quiet question of whether this track was ever really yours.

Questions people actually ask

Why do I feel unfulfilled even though I'm successful?

Usually because your success is built on skills you developed and a title you earned, not on your innate gifts. Competence can carry you a long way while still leaving you empty. The fix isn't achieving more; it's realigning your work to what you're genuinely built for.

Why do I keep getting passed over for promotion?

Sometimes it really is tactics, visibility, positioning, having the right conversations. But just as often, you're grinding to climb a ladder that doesn't fit your gifts, competing on strengths that were never really yours. Before you optimize the tactics, it's worth asking whether the track itself fits who you're built to be, because the fastest promotions tend to come when your work finally plays to your gifts.

How do I figure out what's next in my career?

Start earlier in the chain than most people do, not with job titles or industries, but with your gifts: the things that come easily and energize you. Name those first (proven tools like Kolbe and CliftonStrengths help), and the "what" gets much clearer, much faster.

I feel stuck but don't want to start over, where do I begin?

You don't need to blow anything up. Most of the change happens by re-pointing what you already have toward work that fits you. Begin with a single conversation to map your gifts and one concrete next move.

What is "gifts-based" coaching, and how is it different?

Most coaching starts with goals or fixing weaknesses. This starts with your God-given, innate gifts and builds outward, purpose, then goals, then the challenge in front of you. It's the difference between pushing harder and finally working with your nature.
